Cramping muscles hurt. Help ease those tight muscles with an herbal oil/essential oil blend.
Hurting Tummy Oil is a combination of peppermint-infused olive oil and an essential oil blend of chamomile, lemongrass and fennel. These herbs have a wonderful reputation for the relief of cramping and nausea.
Moms soon learn how common it is for children to complain of stomachaches. The source can be obvious or need a little investigating.
Painful tightening of the stomach and intestinal muscles, gas and nausea can result from various sources: improper eating habits, emotional stress, or a moving vehicle.
Irregular swaying in a moving car disturbs the fluid-filled canals in the middle ear. The eyes tell the brain the body is stationary while the ear tells the brain the body is moving therefore the confusion results in dizziness.
A great way to handle a bellyache is to apply about a teaspoon of our Hurting Tummy Oil in circular motions to the abdominal area.
You can further enhance the effects by applying a warm compress on top to help relax those tight muscles.
Apply the oil hourly as needed.
Follow this with a cup of warm chamomile or peppermint tea and tell your child the story of how Peter Rabbit's mom took care of him when he overdid it in Mr. McGregor's garden.
Of course, there are times when the body is very clear that whatever indulgence is in the stomach must make an exit. Should that happen a belly massage should help calm down an upset child and ease those cramped muscles.
Essential oils are very potent and there are guidelines as to what essential oils are safe for young children.
The blend above uses chamomile, lemongrass and fennel which are considered safe for children over the age of 2 years.
If your child is under the age of 2 years we will substitute the lemongrass for perhaps coriander and/or mandarin.
If your child is under the age of 3 months we will stick to chamomile, lavender and dill.
Peppermint essential oil is very concentrated and on the safe list for children once they reach the five to seven age bracket, however, used in the tea leaf form or in an oil infusion as with this blend, is alright for little ones.
The dilution rate of essential oils to use varies with the age of your child. The rate normally used is a 1% dilution which is for children 1 year to 12 years. If your child is younger than 1 year let me know and the rate is cut in half to .5%. What this means is the amount of drops essential oil per teaspoon carrier oil (peppermint infused olive oil)
Should you want this tummy oil for an older child over the age of 12 or adult let me know and I will increase the concentration of essential oils to 2%.
If you are pregnant and want to use this blend for nausea or upset stomach, let me know and I'll substitute the essential oils normally used with Tangerine and Lemon.
DO NOT INGEST, EXTERNAL USE ONLY
Hurting Tummy Oil is offered in a 2 oz. size amber glass dropper bottle. This smaller size is convenient to keep in your car's first aide kit so it is handy for road trips. Keep peppermint candies on hand as well for treating nausea.
