Natural alternative for dealing with mold and mildew spots bathrooms, ceilings, behind toilets and sinks. A non-aerosol, environmentally friendly air and surface spray utilizing the strength of essential oils Tea Tree, Palmarosa and Cloves. Rather than relying on chlorine bleach or ammonia based products to eliminate mold spores, try a blend that won't irritate your lungs, nor do you have to crack a window for ventilation.
Tea tree oil and Cloves do have a distinct smell but it fades and is non-toxic.
Areas with high humidity such as bathrooms and damp basements are prone to develop signs of mold and mildew which spread if left unchecked. Small fuzzy gray circular spots can form on ceilings and shower curtains as well as give the white grout between wall tile an ugly, dirty appearance.
As part of your cleaning routine, spray the area, and then give the essential oils some time to do their job before you wipe everything down. In between those cleaning days, you can just spray the chosen areas and let it dry on its own. I try to do this periodically when stressed for time.
Helpful hint in general:
To deter the growth of mold in your tub and shower, remember to wipe down the stall and tub after use. The less time water has to lay on a surface till it dries, the less chance mold will form.
Ideal for travel and using public facilities. Spray hotel bedding to handle the risk of bedbugs. Even the cleanest facilities can have a problem with bed bugs, and you certainly don't want any uninvited guests coming back home with you.
Spray shower and tubs at public restrooms to help prevent fungal infections on the feet.
Ideal as a spray disinfectant for those germ prone surface areas we all touch, such as door knobs, shopping cart handles, steering wheels, sinks, phones, etc. Think of all the things children touch which ends up in their mouths, and you'll think of many ways to use this spray. You don't want children ingesting these essential oils, so if you do use the spray to clean their toys, be sure to rinse them as well.
Tea tree oil, Cloves and Palmarosa all contain properties which are effective against not only mildew but against bacterial and viral sources. They work more effectively as a team than by themselves since mold is very difficult to eliminate.
If you just don't like the smell of any of these essential oils good substitutions are Geranium and/or Thyme. Just let me know if you want a substitutioin.
Give the bottle a shake before use. Without synthetic emulsifiers added the essential oils will float to the surface of the distilled water.
